About look-alike domains
What is a look-alike domain?
A name made to be mistaken for another: a typo, a swapped or extra letter, characters that look alike (0 for o), extra words, or the same name under another extension. Some are harmless — a fan site, a coincidence — and some are registered for phishing or to catch mistyped traffic.
Does this mean these sites are malicious?
No. Similar doesn’t mean malicious. Open a look-alike’s report to see whether it has a website, where it’s hosted and what its security checks say.
What can I do about a look-alike of my brand?
If it’s used for phishing, report it to Google Safe Browsing and to the registrar shown in its report. For a name that infringes your trademark, talk to your registrar or a lawyer about a UDRP complaint.
